the round-up, 10/26
"Lost" came through again this week. They haven't missed a beat yet in season three as far as I'm concerned. And I'm glad they got the whole "two islands" thing out of the way in this episode because they've been hinting at that ever since Locke and Eko watched the Pearl's orientation video, which referred to a ferry. When Ben said he wanted Desmond's boat so the survivors couldn't find them, he practically confirmed it then. I'm curious, though, as to why the writers went the "pacemaker" route. It's not a flaw, per se, but sloppy for the dramatic tension since it quickly becomes obvious that the Others don't have the medical chops necessary for such a procedure. When Ben tells Sawyer it was a farce, we're already way ahead of him. Two more episodes before the long break, and rumor has it that next week, one of the series regulars is going to that big island in the sky.
After watching this week's "Lost," I flipped to Comedy Central on a whim and watched a show I don't catch very regularly: "South Park." I just have to say that their skewering of MTV's "My Super Sweet Sixteen" was right on the money. In case you missed it, the episode revolves around Satan planning a Halloween bash and acting just like one of those spoiled, bratty, rich girls. This definitely ranks up there with their Scientology episode.
